Embark on an unforgettable 6-day High Atlas trek starting from Imlil. Day 1 takes you from Imlil through walnut groves, terraced fields, and Berber villages to reach Tachdirt, where you stay overnight
The trek starts in Imlil (1,740 m) early in the morning. You follow scenic trails through walnut groves, orchards, and Berber villages, gradually ascending toward Tachdirt, a traditional Berber village surrounded by terraced fields and high peaks. Arrival is in the afternoon, where you spend the night in a guesthouse or local Berber home and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.
After breakfast, begin trekking toward Azib Tiouana, a high mountain pasture with stunning views of surrounding valleys. The trail passes rocky terrain, small streams, and isolated Berber farms. Azib Tiouana offers an authentic mountain experience, with overnight stay in bivouac in the highlands.
The trek continues ascending to Tiouana, then moving toward Ouamsouzart, a remote plateau surrounded by High Atlas peaks. The trail winds through rocky passes and high pastures, offering panoramic mountain views. Arrive at Ouamsouzart in the afternoon for an overnight stay in a guesthouse or mountain bivouac.
From Ouamsouzart, trek toward the stunning Lac d’Fni, a high-altitude mountain lake nestled in the Toubkal massif. The trail passes alpine meadows, small streams, and rocky slopes. Arrive at Lac d’Fni in the afternoon, set up camp or stay in a nearby refuge, enjoy the peaceful scenery, and rest for the next day’s ascent to Toubkal Refuge.
Depart early from Lac d’Fni and trek toward Toubkal Refuge (3,200 m). The trail ascends steadily through rocky terrain and mountain passes, providing breathtaking views of the Toubkal massif. Arrival at the refuge is in the afternoon, where you enjoy lunch, dinner, and overnight stay while preparing for the final summit attempt.
Start early around 4:00–5:00 AM for the summit of Jebel Toubkal (4,167 m), the highest peak in North Africa. The steep rocky trail rewards climbers with panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains and, on clear days, glimpses of the Sahara Desert. After 15–30 minutes at the summit for photos and rest, descend carefully back to Toubkal Refuge, then continue through Mizane Valley and Sidi Chamharouch to arrive in Imlil by late afternoon, completing a spectacular 6-day High Atlas trek.
